I have not gone to the afterburner today. First of all, I do not like Wino and more importantly: I was so tired yesterday-evening, do not think I could have managed another day of livemusic... A lot to think about, and look back to. I have seen lots of great performances, a few disappointments also. Talked to nice people, but missed Mr. A. (perhaps we should have agreed on a meetingpoint and time... well, let's do that next time ) My highlights of the festival: Gomer Pyle, Rose Kemp, Zu, Wolves in the Throneroom, Negura Bunget, Winchester Club, Mono, Seven that Spells, Dragontears, Grails, Six Organs of Admittance, Grey Daturas, US Christmas, the food (!) A bit disappointing: Motorpsycho (poor sound), Colour Haze (I have seen them better), the Young Gods (a bit out of place) Embarassing: Amon Düül II (they should have stayed in the old folks' home...), Devil's Blood (second rate Coven ripoff) Next year it is April 15-18 - Perhaps it's time to already book a hotelroom

A meetingpoint for next year is a very good idea Siem, although i think i saw you walking in the main hall on the floor before the Young Gods Where on stage. But i didnt now for sure and was on the blcon way above you. (I thought i saw the red tee with VRIJHEID on the back.) I did meet alot of other very nice people from the forum overhere. FuzzBox who has a damn fine tast in music. I did hang out with El_Scorcho and his two nice friends from down-under. And thank god they know how to party those Aussies. When they are back i'll bet they show us overhere some pics. My highlights of the festival: Farflung, White Hills, Cathedral(i didnt think it happend, but i have finally see them play a show i liked), Grails, Motorpsycho, Mono, Dragontears (shame he had some trouble with the guitar), Earth (man he was in a good mood, i never seen him make a joke.), US Christmas, the Outskirts of Infinity (on saturday these three old farts where showing the people in this basment what rock music is about). The less good, they did not disappoint me: Colour Haze (this was a to big stage and i think they didnt had a good day. But i Liked it anyway), Amon Düül II (they where good, but i missed the spirit.) the Young Gods (what the fuck where these guys doing on the roadburn festival, yes they where good but WTF!?), Six Organs of Admittance (I was on balcony, enjoyed it, but was bored very fast) Shame on me but i missed the Grey Daturas and Radio Moscow, i think i was talking to Fuzzbox and Rocksanne from 420 trainwreck in the smokers corner. I already got me a room for next year, so if the guys from roadburn give me a line-up as good as this years roadburn i will be happy for a other year.

yeah, what a FEST! great vibes as always & the line-up was just satisfying everyone's needs! i missed Radio Moscow, too but had a real quality smoking time with Mr. A in the smoking section. @El_Scorcho: yeah, you were kinda drunk ... but you still can remember ... So my highlights were right away on the first day: the mighty FARFLUNG & WHITE HILLS (gonna see them tomorrow again in Vienna, hehe) SEVEN THAT SPELLS DRAGONTEARS GRAILS OUTSKIRTS OF INFINITY COLOUR HAZE's LOVE-IN sitarjam I can't report about real disappointments ... i left the hall right away when I didn't get into them ... e.g. Young Gods or Motorpsycho ... the slow stuff was way too early on the running order, so I missed Earth and OM after giving them a try for a couple of minutes ... i would have enjoyed it way more around midnight ... Hope nobody else caught the dutch swine flu ... it required some forces on sunday to get my sweet ass back to Germany again ... but i'm almost rocking again ... have TO ... at least tomorrow night

yep, that was me Cannot remember many other people in bright red t-shirts from Amnesty International on RB. Black was the dresscode.

Earth was boring after 20 minutes and Outskirts of Infinity - did not like them at all.

Amon Düül II was weird, the Hawkwind reunions a few years ago were rather awful, but they paled in comparison to this (Beyond the pale??) They even had a handwritten piece of paper with the bandname written on it glued to the bassdrum. And this is one of the legends of Krautrock? Sometimes it is better to leave things as you remember them and not see them again... Funny that you were on the balcony during Six Organs - we could have been standing next to each other. I thought it was a great show. You can say what you want about Neurosis, but they do know how to pick interesting bands. even when you are right about Young Gods - I had no idea why they were at RB either. Probably one of the Neurosis guys pushed it because of sentimental reasons or something... |

Damn i forgot about the black dresscode too, i think i was the most fashionably dude on the festival on Saturday. Earth is always boring, but Earth is Earth and i think they played a good set. And i'm a big fan, so if it was their worst show in months i wouldnt hear it anyway. Outskirts of Infinity were awesome man, they got the spirit Amon Düül II lost somewhere in the early seventies. Six Organs was a great show, i only hoped a little that the guy went nuts for once. And that is the only reason i think i get bored a little to fast. I was near the stairs BTW, between the door to the batcave and the stairs.
